Let us introduce ourselves! We are two primary schools from Greece and Italy working together in order to improve our teachers’ and learners’ professional and social competences in terms of inclusion as part of an Erasmus+ project.

Our project is an Erasmus+KA210 small scale partnership between a Greek and an Italian school. The project code is ΚΑ 210: 2022-1-EL01-KA210-SCH-000084462 and it is titled “Designing and creating the inclusive school of our dreams”.

The participant schools are the 18th Primary School of Karditsa, Greece and the Istituto Comprensivo D’Aosta Ottaviano, Italy and the pupils involved are aged 10-12. Below, you can watch short videos describing our schools and cities created by our pupils with the support of their teachers for the needs of our common project.

The rationale behind our project is to provide new knowledge and assistance to the supplementary SED teachers that up to now are actually excluded from the programme due to the fixed term contracts. Secondly, to the staff members both in Greece and in Italy that have never participated in a European Project before. A teacher who doesn’t feel confident to take part in European projects needs to have, as a newcomer, the opportunity for a transnational cooperation. Our aim is for both schools to gain a European orientation with sustainable projects with a fully experienced organisation, that have actually something valued to say to the local communities.

In this particular project our main objective is what its title says: trying to create the proper inclusive school for all. This is going to be achieved firstly by doing a small research to the staff members in both schools with interviews and questionnaires about the existing practices, in order to raise awareness about inclusive education. All the other results will be created with the students, mainly with those who attend the “Integration” classes or with the students who attend classes with the assistance of a SED teacher. Additionally, a robotic mascot, the hero of the project, an instruction guide for the parents, art and handicrafts to decorate the school indoors, a digital comic with a digital storytelling and our Erasmus+ programme with a handmade placard will be made.
