For the needs of our project, a questionnaire has been designed, delivered and analyzed. The issue investigated was inclusion and the expectations of an inclusive school. It was administered to both Greek and Italian pupils in March 2023 and 131 answers were gathered.

The participants were aged 10-12 years old and from the answers provided we can conclude that in both schools the vast majority of pupils is aware of pupils with learning disabilities or a mental/physical disorder in their school environment. Also, half the pupils have knowledge about the migrant/refugee background of other pupils but 54% of the former state they are unaware of any word in the latter’s language.

When it comes to issues of discrimination, only 15,3% state they have been discriminated due to being a newcomer or for reasons of personality and appearance. Generally, both schools are considered to welcome diversity to a great extent.

As regards the image of a dream school, the answers given focus on infrastructure and school facilities/equipment as well as on matters of inclusion and a need for every kid to feel accepted and welcome.

Below, you can see the answers provided by the pupils gathered in a short presentation.
